Skool pricing: Hobby vs Pro without the guesswork.
Current Skool pricing explained: $9 Hobby vs $99 Pro, transaction fees, 14-day trial, annual billing, and a simple plan break-even framework.
Current Skool pricing
| Plan | Price | Transaction fee | Listed core limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hobby | $9/month | 10% | Unlimited members, courses, videos, and live calls |
| Pro | $99/month | 2.9% | Unlimited members, courses, videos, and live calls |
Skool’s official pricing page currently lists both plans with a custom URL and affiliates. Its Help Center separately notes that setting up member affiliates for your own community is a Pro-only feature, so read the affiliate label carefully if referral functionality is important to you.
Hobby vs Pro: use fee math, not instinct
The plan price is only one piece of your monthly cost. If you sell through Skool, the transaction percentage can dominate the economics. A useful way to compare the plans is:
Ignoring payment-processing nuances and other possible charges, The headline pricing-card math compares Hobby at $9 plus a 10% fee with Pro at $99 plus a 2.9% fee, but Skool’s detailed Payments FAQ adds a $0.30 per-transaction component and lists 3.9% + $0.30 for Pro transactions above $900. Because order size and transaction count affect the result, use the detailed fee structure rather than a single universal crossover number.
This is a decision aid, not a promise of your exact bill. Verify current pricing and any payment-processing details for your country before relying on the calculation.
Which plan should you start with?
Choose Hobby when validation matters most
Hobby makes sense when your immediate goal is to launch, invite a small group, test whether people engage, and avoid a large fixed software cost. It is especially attractive if you are not yet processing meaningful paid volume through the platform.
Choose Pro when paid volume or member referrals matter
Pro becomes more compelling as processed revenue grows because the listed transaction fee drops from 10% to 2.9%. It is also the plan Skool’s Help Center identifies for enabling member affiliate referrals inside your own community.
What about annual billing?
Skool’s pricing page currently includes a monthly/yearly toggle and advertises “2 months free” for yearly billing. Because promotions and billing displays can change, check the live pricing page before purchase rather than relying on a cached annual total.
